Results from Team Madigan Day One Mackay

3 July, 2010

Hi all, we are home from the first day of competition at the Northern Queensland Show Horse Qualifier.   All of us are tired but this could be enhanced by the consumption of a bottle of NZ Oyster Bay bubbles followed by a bottle of Moet…. BIG reason to celebrate – T.J. and his lovely galloway Kolbeach Vogue rode and won a very strong rider class.  He was sashed Champion 12 – 15 year Rider thus securing a ride at the Grand Nationals next April.  T.J. has won his rider age group at the Grand Nationals several years ago.  I was really pleased with our little fellow Brookville Silk Road.  He won his intermediate class and was sashed Reserve Champion Intermediate Pony.  “James” is a sweet 13.2hh pony and just making a start under saddle.  The Madigans started Kolbeach Farmer in the Large Galloway newcomer class.  Margie Campbell has schooled “Farmer” and he went softly and kindly for her to be sashed Reserve.

Tomorrow is the big day with all competitors vying for a chance to compete at the 2011 Grand Nationals.  Champions and Reserves secure an invitation to that event.  Good luck to each and everyone competing at Mackay.  Go safely and go well.
