The 2011 N.Z. National  Showcase Championships were held on 28 – 30 January 2011 at the Canterbury A. & P. Showgrounds.  This is the very first three ring championship event held in New Zealand to my knowledge.

The graceful, young riding pony mare Zilco Amberleigh Primadonna worked outdoors in the first elimination ring and was sashed champion.  The rules of the three ring program meant this championship secured her a berth in the Supreme Open 148 cm Title line up on the final day of competition.  Only one championship is allowed in each class in each ring.

On the final day of competition the Supreme Titles were decided with  champions from the three rings working to their own chosen music and executing their own workouts before all three ring judges in the Indoor Arena.  The judges were Carlene Nossiter, Jan Lyons and John Paget from Australia.

Beautifully ridden with a masterful workout by Thomas Madigan, “T.J.” of Mackay in Queensland, Australia, “Abby” was crowned the  Supreme 2011 New Zealand Showcase 148cm Open Champion.  At just three years of age we believe “Abby” has a tremendous future before her.  This event was the second only competition that T.J. and Abby have contested.  In his thank you speech T.J. gave thanks to Jane Bailey for breaking in and preparing Abby so beautifully for the ring and to Denis and Robyn Bailey for their confidence in allowing him this ride.

Our congratulations also go to the Bailey Family .  We thank them for their belief in our boy – Pendley Gold Cup (Imp UK) – as a sire of ponies and horses achieving at the highest level of competition.

Good luck Abby and T.J. at your next event!
